Kerala Piravi Wishes 2026: Malayalam and English Messages for Keralam at 70

Kerala Piravi falls on Sunday, 1 November 2026, and this year it marks two milestones at once: the state turns 70 (it was formed on 1 November 1956), and it is the first Kerala Piravi since the state's name officially became Keralam in August 2026. The simplest good wish is short, warm and specific: കേരളപ്പിറവി ആശംസകൾ! (Keralappiravi ashamsakal, "Happy Kerala Piravi"), followed by one line about a place, a dish, the language or the people you are thinking of.
Below you will find original Malayalam and English wishes grouped by who you are sending them to: family, friends abroad, office groups, schools, customers and your WhatsApp Status. Every line was written by the W4Wish Editorial Desk, so you can copy, edit and send them freely.
Why Kerala Piravi 2026 Is Special
Kerala Piravi, also called Kerala Day, marks the birth of the state on 1 November 1956. Under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956, the Malayalam-speaking regions were brought together into one state: most of Travancore-Cochin, the Malabar district of the old Madras State and the Kasaragod area of South Canara. That makes 1 November 2026 the 70th anniversary.
The second milestone is the name. Parliament passed the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 on 11 and 12 August, President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent on 17 August, and the Centre notified the new name later that month. In Malayalam the state has always been കേരളം (Keralam), so your Malayalam wishes do not change at all. In English, both "Kerala" and "Keralam" will be understood for a long time; use whichever your family and friends use.
Celebrations this year are already under way, from folk-art showcases of Poothan and Thira in Kochi to school programmes, traditional dress days and Malayalam recitation events across the state.
How to Write a Kerala Piravi Wish That Feels Personal
- Name one real thing. A district, a dish, a monsoon memory, a school, the train journey home. "Missing Thrissur's evenings today" says more than a list of adjectives.
- Keep the Malayalam simple. A short, correct line reads better than a long poetic one with spelling slips. If you are unsure, send the Malayalam line with its English meaning underneath.
- Match the space. A family group can take a warm paragraph, an office group needs one neutral line, and a Status works best as a single sentence on your own photo.
- Keep it celebratory. The 70th year and the new name are good talking points, but leave political opinions out of shared groups.

Wishes for Customers and Small Businesses

Short Lines for WhatsApp Status
- 70 years of Keralam. Happy Kerala Piravi! 🌴
- Home is a language. കേരളപ്പിറവി ആശംസകൾ!
- Born on 1 November 1956. Still the most beautiful place I know.
- Backwaters, banana chips and belonging. Happy Kerala Day!
- എന്റെ നാട്, എന്റെ അഭിമാനം. (Ente nadu, ente abhimanam: my land, my pride.)
Pair a Status line with your own photo, such as a home-town street, a family meal or a rainy window, rather than a forwarded poster. Status updates disappear after 24 hours, so post on the morning of 1 November, and use your Status privacy settings if you only want close contacts to see it.
What to Avoid
- Forwarded "facts" posters. Many carry wrong dates or invented history. If you mention history, keep to the basics: formed on 1 November 1956, 70 years in 2026.
- Mixing up festivals. Kerala Piravi is not a harvest festival, so save pookalam and Maveli lines for your Onam wishes.
- Long copy-paste chains in office groups. One warm line is enough.
- Unchecked Malayalam. Read the line once before sending, or include the English meaning.
Diwali follows soon after, so if you are planning your festive messages ahead, browse our Diwali wishes and messages too.
